Updates!

Hey guys just some quick updates,

First of all, Daniela Attard (a.k.a Iella) has agreed to do the third paint-over, so that will be interesting to see how it's going to turn up!

Second, I have started my Masters in Digital Arts last week (finally). I'm researching and producing an interactive audiovisual online space. My Masters blog can be viewed here however I will still be posting some collages and experiments that I'm doing for my MA on Electronic Sketchbook!

Finally, on the 16th of November I will be exhibiting with Ruth Ancilleri and a bunch of other talented artists for an exhibition held by the Front Against Censorship. I'm really excited about the collaboration Ms Ancilleri and I are doing, especially since it's going to be something in 3D (actual 3D not digital) rather than just an illustration.

That's it for now, will keep you posted with new stuff and new projects!
Btw have you see the new MacBook Air? What do you think?

  2. Macbook Air is the cherry on a cake, which in this case is not a lie. Awesome to hear about the exhibition, I wish you best of luck!

Yeah Iella told me yesterday about the paintover when we were going for some graffiti at the skatepark. I will give it a whirl once she is done. :)

  4. I wish; right about now art supplies and books are getting the best of me (one in particular which I am greatly anticipating). My lappie is barely 1 year old, so I'll give it the honor to work till the very end before I get a new one. :P

The only thing that scares me is that...EVERYTHING is different. I don't mind the OS, but the hardware...iunno; I completely abhor mac's mouse especially, such an ugly thing.

  5. Hmm true, no more hard disks apparently! I never use Mac's mouse, I only use the track pad, in fact I'm looking into buying the separate track pad (mouse/trackpad thingie)

  6. Mac mouse is like....one button, with a round thing on the top. God forbids you try to click on a folder or you'd get 2 dropdowns.

As far as I know they only have the "mighty mouse", but that's around a year ago. They might have released something in the meantime. I think Wacom has released Bamboo Touch, so it might be what you're looking for.

  7. all their mice are pretty crap tbh...
but my boyfriend recently bought this one:

and it's great for me because I use the trackpad all the time anyway :)

  8. Oh that looks rather sexy but lol, $70 for a...thing to touch and navigate (and not even calculating shipping)? And without a pen? Um I dunno but my logic just prefers to hit 2 birds with one stone rather than having one with separate functions. As per usual; Mac's pricing in the shitters. I'm surprised how the macbook air doesn't cost at least $4000.

I can't deny the usage of a trackpad but I usually just navigate the pc with the tablet all the time. I feel weird without the pen thing lol. Mouse is slowly becoming extinct apparently.

  9. Heheh really? I only use the pen for drawing but it's quite handy for general navigation. I guess I'm just paranoid that if I use it too much I might break it :)

And yes 70$ is far too much but it's super comfortable and has the same expose' functions of the laptop trackpad, so once I break my trackpad (it's slowly dying, the left click doesn't always work) the magic track pad it is!

  10. Oh no it won't break that easily, the tablet i had before served me for well over a year and never broke down in any way. The only problem might be due to its stylus; it may just wear off a little earlier than usual but not such a big hassle after all. A light hand is the trick.

Not a big fan of trackpads to be very honest, especially laptop ones. They're too small and you have to at least lift your finger twice to get the cursor where you want it and lol, I don't like wasting time in navigating.

What I really want to get is the Cintiq; I wanted it for a long time but now that I tried it out at the Comic Con I want it real bad. The fact that I could see the screen on the tablet itself is just delicious and found out that the 12 inch is more than enough. I thought it was too small before.

  11. User of a magic mouse here:

Although it's a bit overpriced it's great. The scrolling couldn't be better. The thing with the 1-button click is that you have to get used to lift your finger according to which "button" you want to press. It sometimes gets in the way, but i got used to it in a week. I was a heavy PC user and you'll immediately see a difference in the way mice are used on macs. The OS is one-button-friendly as you know, but I use 2 buttons.

The real strange/special thing about the mice is it's tracking speed. Apparently the acceleration of the mouse pointer on the screen varies according to your hand movement.

i.e. slow hand speed = slow pointer dpi
fast hand speed = high pointer dpi

This is hell for gaming and there are no options to change these settings to a more windows-friendly manner. They chose this setup for a reason though. Try drawing with a mouse on a mac and on a pc. The mac mouse is way more precise at these tasks.

I had the mighty mouse before the magic one. It's a totally different story though.

Now that i'm used to the magic mouse, I can't go back to other mice.

And if you don't like the magic mouse there's always another way with other mice. you just have to stick with usb wires or dongles (which i despise).

The scrolling is a selling feature though.
